Artichoke Mini Skein Set on Hearth Sock 120g/ 396m

April has went in a flash, and I always wonder where the months go?! This month has all been about the garden and it’s glorious spring colours. I’ve taken a lot of inspiration from the garden as you will see from the colour names, so I’ve also included a few photographs of the garden and it’s progress here (as well as yarn colours for the update!)

We finally got our patio down and have been enjoying eating in the garden, as we got a table and chairs last summer. Listening to birdsong, watching bats flying and looking at the flowers and plants while drinking a cup of tea into the late spring evening is a good way to spend some time. I’ll try and get a photo of the bats for you someday! Our Peony finally blossomed for the first time ever, and what a beauty. I based my colour Peony on the photo on the label of this flower when I got it. And now I get to see the true colour of this plant! I am also considering propagating it from the root- if you have any tips let me know. (I think it’s a tree peony, variety unknown).

Peony- what I based my colour Peony on all those years ago!

Cottage Garden Mini skein Set on Natural Sock- 120g/480m

And of course I needed to create a cottage garden mini skein set. I believe I may have don this before, but the good thing is there are so many colour options with a cottage garden for inspiration!

Just be aware that the cottage garden mini skein set contains an indigo dyed skein- please be aware that indigo crocks off when knitting with it, this is not considered a fault- you can read more about it here under the “Natural Dyes” section. I’ll also include aftercare instructions for anyone who purchases a skein of indigo dyed yarn.

Rambling Rose Sock Set 120g/ 480m

I have also had a little bit of a revelation when it comes to roses. For many years I hated roses as they never seemed to flower and always jagged and scratched me when weeding. After realising different types of roses needed different types of care (rambling, bush, climbing etc) I set out to look after one particular rose in my garden that caused much angst. I bought a tripod to let it climb up and grow and it has new shoots! So hopefully we will see some flowers this year, and can figure out if it’s a climber or a rambler and what colour it is.

New shoots

Brunnera (Silver King I believe)

Hellebores looking glorious!

Hope you enjoyed my little newsletter garden tour. Apologies if you aren’t a garden/ green fingered person! Now that I’ve showed you some of my favourites plants, I’d like to show you some of my favourite colourways I’ve been creating this month.
