New Base: Limited Edition Blue Texel & Cheviot

I’m really excited to introduce my new base to you “officially”.

It’s a beautiful cool hued mid grey and an absolute beauty.

Slightly more supple and slightly softer than the Jacob’s limited edition, and with a slight bit more meterage too. It’ s marginally lighter in colour than the Jacobs too, probably due to the Cheviot lambswool content.

Here’s all the info so you can plan your projects if you would like to:

Fibre Mix: 90% Blue Texel, 10% Cheviot Lambswool (approx)

Undyed

Fibre Origin: Magherahoney, Glens of Antrim, Northern Ireland (UK).

Spun in: Wales

Spinning style: Woollen spun

Weight: 100g/ 4ply- fingering/ 408m

I always find the structure of woollen spun yarn really good for garments, especially for the warmth they provide. I also find it good for colourwork. I would recommend a pattern such as LB Handknits Scéal Gra Sweater or something like Grain by Anna Johanna (you’d need a contrasting colour for this!).
